I'm proud to have authored this month's featured article for the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) e-newsletter. My piece, "The PCL Playbook," covers the latest research on the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL).

The PCL sits at the back of the knee and keeps the tibia from translating posteriorly. It's injured less often than the ACL, but can be harder to diagnose and treat, which is why management still varies widely among surgeons.

In the article, I cover:

  • How PCL injuries are diagnosed, including exams and imaging

  • The ongoing debates around the best surgical approach

  • When nonoperative treatment works well

  • Realistic expectations for recovery and return to sport
